The process for admission to RISE follows the guidelines set out in the Special Educational Needs Code of Practice.

Students are considered for admission based on an evaluation of their individual needs. If this evaluation results in an Education, Health, and Care Plan that suggests RISE may be a suitable environment, the relevant Education Authority will request the school to assess whether they are equipped to support the child.

Senior staff will carefully review each referral, and if needed, they will observe the child in their current educational setting. After thoroughly reviewing all relevant information, a decision is made regarding whether the school can meet the student’s specific needs.

This might also involve the child and parent visiting the school.  Prospective parents are encouraged to visit the school during scheduled Open Mornings, which require an appointment.

The final decision regarding a placement RISE is determined by the relevant borough SEND panel.

Once a placement is agreed upon, the school will organise transition activities to help the student adjust to their new environment. Parents will also be invited to the school to complete necessary documentation, such as the home-school agreement.

RISE Education admits students based on the following criteria:

The school specialises in supporting children with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, as well as those who experience social communication and interaction challenges.
